Tropical Disturbance - 4:30PM CDT
The University of Houston DPS is monitoring the Tropical Disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico. Forecasters believe this disturbance will develop into a tropical storm during the next two days. The storm is expected to stall in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana well into next week. Although a precise forecast remains uncertain, UH is preparing for potential heavy rain and street flooding.
Using an abundance of caution and acknowledging the coming holiday weekend, we recommend that departments begin to review, and be ready to implement, their emergency plans, and that employees review their emergency responsibilities and contact information. We also advise students, faculty and staff to review their personal emergency preparedness plans.
UH DPS will continue to monitor the storm. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stay tuned to institutional announcements and are asked to remain aware of weather changes and advisories. The University of Houston DPS will continue posting updates as needed. These updates can be found at www.uh.edu/emergency
